Personal Residence and Tax Planning Workshop

American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore

Tue 30 Jan

Join Derren Joseph of Moores Rowland Asia Pacific and a panel of expert speakers on Tuesday 30 January 2024 for a workshop in Singapore on US and UK Personal Residence and Tax Planning where we will be providing international tax advice in respect of a fictitious case study centred around an entrepreneur’s ambition to develop a task management software company.  They will be considering international tax issues regarding his exit from US tax residence, his US and UK taxation on his salary, his non-domiciled status in the UK, the remittance basis of taxation in respect of his significant portfolio and other investment income, the potential use of trusts and foundations to limit his exposure to UK tax, his plans to return to spend a certain amount of time each year in Singapore and the relevance of the Singaporen/UK double tax treaty, his idea of leaving the UK, and possible alternative countries to migrate to after selling his various companies.  He also seeks advise on marital law issues if he is unfortunate enough to be accused of being a workaholic by his wife who may sue for divorce in the future.

Registration will start from 08:30 with the workshop starting promptly at 09:00 until 11:00.  The workshop will incorporate several Q&A opportunities for delegates to engage directly with the speakers, similar to the highly acclaimed discussion group meetings held by the IBSA globally throughout the year.
