Structuring a Business in Today's Transparent World

Squire Patton Boggs (Madrid)

Wed 26 Sep 18:00

Following the success of a recent event in Geneva, the European branch of the IBSA invite you to join an international tax team of Squire Patton Boggs, with Jeremy Cape (UK) and José E. Aguilar Shea (Spain), together with Roy Saunders of IFS Consultants (UK), Ali Kanani of Bonnard Lawson (Switzerland) and Cees-Frans Greeven of Buren NV (the Netherlands), for a discussion group meeting examining some of the major shifts in international business structuring, the developments in LATAM countries on substance requirements and new stipulations under the MLI. This meeting will be hosted by Squire Patton Boggs at their offices at Plaza Marques de Salamanca 3-4, 7th floor, 28006 Madrid on Wednesday 26th September.

Our expert speakers will be examining the following:

  • the fast coming changes in international tax law, whereby companies in the future will need to show a level of substance in a jurisdiction higher than merely an address, and to comply with not only the letter of law but the intention behind it

  • the potential new standard, and how a company might ensure it is properly domiciled where it intends to be

  • the current relationship that Switzerland enjoys with the European Commission and potential changes in Swiss tax law

  • and the required standards of double taxation agreements to meet the aspirations of the OECD within their BEPS project and the Multilateral Instrument (MLI) to implement these requirements.

Networking drinks will follow the discussion and offers the opportunity to meet fellow members and their guests. This event is free to IBSA members and invited guests.
