The IBSA North American branch together with Frank Hirth have pleasure in inviting you to join Roy Saunders, international business structuring consultant and Founder and Chairman of the IBSA, Eric Collins and Stephen Christiano of Frank Hirth, Robert Kiggins of Culhane Meadows and Scott Davis for a discussion group meeting on Thursday 17th May 2018 at 6.30pm at the Harvard Club of New York City.  

 

The meeting will discuss the following issues which are of paramount importance for all US enterprises with foreign source income, as well as foreign companies doing business in the US:

 

  • The US Tax Reform implications for US Enterprises with Foreign Income
  • The consequences of these changes for Foreign Enterprises operating in the US
  • A comparison of the new US corporate tax system with those of the UK and EU with the impact of the OECD BEPS Action points explained for US corporations with foreign subsidiaries.

 

Networking drinks, kindly provided by Frank Hirth, will follow the discussion and offers the opportunity to meet fellow members and their guests.  This event is free to IBSA members and invited guests.

Eric’s specialist area is the taxation of alternative investments, in particular private equity partnerships with UK and/or US partners, and offering withholding tax advice in the wake of the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

Eric joined Frank Hirth in 2012, moving to our New York office in 2014 to support our business tax team. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA), is a US Enrolled Agent (EA), and co-authored the International Investment Funds and Private Equity (IBFD) tax portfolio: Investment Funds and Private Equity in 2012.

Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1967, Roy Saunders has accumulated a wealth of commercial experience working independently in commercial property, international tax, advertising and other industries. He is the Chairman of IFS, a boutique international tax practice based in central London. Academically, he is known throughout the world for his many books and publications, the foremost being his red book, International Tax Systems & Planning Techniques published by Sweet & Maxwell. Roy has also taught an MA Course on International Taxation at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.

Roy is very proud of the fascinating client base of entrepreneurial individuals that he has built up at IFS. He feels strongly about the role that ethical tax structuring plays in the growth of an economy, and that this needs to be better understood by the public at large. Roy founded the IBSA to enable business professionals around the world to discover new business relationships and promote best practice by creating sustainable business structures compliant with international transparency, corporate governance and social responsibility.

Steve joined Frank Hirth LLC in 2011 as part of the Business Tax Group dealing with various partnerships and corporations. He previously worked at Ernst & Young in the financial services department focussing on US hedge funds and private equity funds.

Steve has experience in US taxation, providing a wide range of partnership and corporation tax compliance and advisory services. Steve also has knowledge of dealing with foreign transactions mainly regarding Fixed, Determinable, Annual, Periodical (FDAP) income and Effectively Connected Income (ECI) related issues. His client portfolio consists of financial services clients, general business clients and some high net worth individual clients.
