Dear Lucie,

Our newsletters are written for IBSA members and I hope they provide knowledge, stimulate ideas and encourage initiatives to further advance the Association. Moreover, it provides advance information of what is coming up in your region and elsewhere.

So this newsletter has a summary of the recent March meeting on Residence planning for Entrepreneurial Clients in Geneva (with news about the latest Italian and Portuguese laws rivalling the UK non-dom rules for giving tax incentives to temporary residents for up to 15 years)!

Our UK, North American, Asian, Dubai and European branches are now holding regular meetings – Lucie will keep you updated on all these events in her weekly bulletins.  The next one is just around the corner on 15 th March with the issues surrounding both Brexit for the UK and President Trump’s proposals in the US being on the agenda.

And now a date for your diary – the annual IBSA conference is on 16th November at the Landmark hotel in London (a favourite of IBSA members from the poll we have taken and now part of our annual branding!).  The topic is Practical Issues for Entrepreneurial Family Owned Companies and the full programme (albeit in draft format still) is shown on the website under conferences.

As per the past 2 years, we are holding an annual members’ dinner the night before at the famous Hall of Fame room at Langan’s Brasserie.  There will need to be a limit to numbers, so please let Lucie know as soon as possible if you would like to reserve a place at the dinner or book directly here.  A new addition to our November programme – I am planning the golf day I have previously hinted at, the day AFTER the conference on Friday November 17th at the world famous Finchley Golf Club (only joking, but it’s actually my club so I can arrange a good deal, and it has the accolade of Ken Brown saying it is "the best presented golf course for club play that I have seen in years").  So again, all who are interested should drop a line to Lucie and let her know.

As you may be able to tell from this newsletter, the IBSA is really developing into a members’ association designed not only to give professional benefits to our members, but also to create a club like atmosphere at our many events, so that members get to know each other (leading to trusting them with important client work or to obtain reciprocal information which may be valuable to themselves). Our younger professional colleagues can help to develop this by taking responsibility for its future by joining local committees to develop local branches. The IBSA was created in March 2014 for professional colleagues developing their careers, recognising how difficult it is to generate connections with fellow professionals across the globe who can help them with international client issues.  In order to create the IBSA, more established professional colleagues were encouraged to become members and share their knowledge and experience with colleagues through discussion groups, workshops, conferences and articles – in effect to act as ‘mentors’ to those whose careers may emulate theirs in future years.

I am truly delighted with how the IBSA has developed over the past two years. If you are interested in joining a local or the global committee, please contact Lucie.Hoyland@istructuring.com .

Best regards,

Roy Saunders
