John Timpany

Partner, KPMG China

John has over 18 years of experience in KPMG’s tax practices in Hong Kong and New Zealand. John’s work involves providing the full range of tax assistance and advice to multinational companies across the Asia Pacific region and beyond. A number of John’s clients use Hong Kong as the location for their ASPAC regional head office and John advises these organisations on managing their tax affairs regionally. This regularly entails the leadership of regional client teams for specific projects and the provision of tax advisory and compliance support.

His role involves advising on issues relevant to the establishment of investment holding and operating structures for companies operating in a diverse range of industries and countries. He has extensive international merger and acquisition experience. He has also played a major role in the provision of tax advice on due diligence, contract negotiation, transaction restructuring and financing engagements.

John is experienced in advising clients from a wide variety of industries, including telecommunications, transportation, healthcare, insurance, banking and funds management and real estate.

Martin Crawford

Co-Founder & CEO of Acclime

Martin is one of the most experienced corporate services executives in Asia. He was the Group CEO of Vistra from 2009 to 2018, where he built the firm from a regional player to be the top three global corporate services providers, expanded the geographic reach from five countries to 46 jurisdictions, executed 35 M&As, and achieved outstanding equity returns for three successive PE owners.

Prior to Vistra, Martin spent over 15 years leading medium and large companies across the Asia-Pacific region in offshore financial services, foreign exchange and asset management. Martin spent his early career in Australia in a number of sales and marketing roles before moving to Europe to further his academic studies. He worked with Bain & Company in London before relocating back to Australia where he spent seven years managing the institutional funds management division at MLC. Prior to his move to Asia, he was Regional Managing Director for Travelex PLC.

Frank Sun

Partner, Latham & Watkins

Frank Sun, a partner in the Hong Kong office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Corporate Department, specializes in private equity investment and public and private M&A transactions. Mr. Sun regularly advises private equity funds and corporate clients in private equity investments, cross-border acquisitions, PIPEs, privatizations and a wide range of other complex M&A transactions.

A native Mandarin speaker focusing on multijurisdictional work, Mr. Sun has practiced law in London, Beijing, New York and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Latham, he had been a Hong Kong-based partner of another major international law firm since 2012.
