Roy Saunders of the IBSA and IFS Consultants and Gerard Jan van Spall of Vistra would like to invite you to join Demis Ioannou of Taxatelier and Richard Melton of Vistra (Jordans Trust Company) for a discussion group meeting at Londa Beach Hotel, 72 Georgiou A Street, Potamos Germasogeia, Limassol 4048 on Tuesday 20th June at 18:00.


The meeting will discuss the concerns of UK companies with activities within the European Union as a result of Brexit and what corporate and tax options exist for them to migrate from the UK into another member state. The various options, other than liquidation and starting afresh, include changes of place of effective management, business and asset transfers, corporate re-domiciliation and cross border mergers. 


Networking drinks and canapés, kindly provided by Vistra hosting the event, will follow the discussion and offer the opportunity to meet fellow members and their guests. This event is open to the public and is free to IBSA members.

Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1967, Roy Saunders has accumulated a wealth of commercial experience working independently in commercial property, international tax, advertising and other industries. He is the Chairman of IFS, a boutique international tax practice based in central London. Academically, he is known throughout the world for his many books and publications, the foremost being his red book, International Tax Systems & Planning Techniques published by Sweet & Maxwell. Roy has also taught an MA Course on International Taxation at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.

Roy is very proud of the fascinating client base of entrepreneurial individuals that he has built up at IFS. He feels strongly about the role that ethical tax structuring plays in the growth of an economy, and that this needs to be better understood by the public at large. Roy founded the IBSA to enable business professionals around the world to discover new business relationships and promote best practice by creating sustainable business structures compliant with international transparency, corporate governance and social responsibility.

Demis Ioannou is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales ICAEW) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Cyprus (ICPAC).

Demis qualified with KPMG (Cyprus), studied in the UK and is a holder of a first class (BA Hons.) degree in Accounting and Finance.  During his studies he has won a cash prize award from KPMG (U.K) and a University prize award.  Demis has a wide range of experience in relation to the Cyprus and international taxation of corporate entities and individuals. Demis has advised corporate clients on the energy sector, trading in oil products, derivatives and on individuals relocating to Cyprus. His clients included major local and international groups and high-net-worth individuals.

Demis has written exclusive publications to clients regarding Cyprus and international taxation matters. He has recently been advising a large oil company regarding treaty benefits provisions and “re-domiciliation” issues.

Richard Melton

He began his career in the corporate and trust services industry in 2001 as a senior consultant with a large multinational fiduciary services business in Gibraltar. In 2009, he arrived in Cyprus to setup and manage a new office for his group.  After a brief spell working in Latin America, Richard returned to Cyprus to take up the managing director’s role at the Jordans Trust Company office in Nicosia.

 

During his career, Richard has guided clients in numerous sectors and markets, including Malta, Spain, Russia and Brazil; his knowledge proving invaluable when recommending any solution.

 

As an avid presenter and writer, Richard has contributed to various events and publications, including blogs and updates on international tax or estate planning matters.

 

Richard holds a STEP Diploma in International Trust Management; and is also an International Tax Affiliate of the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation, having completed the highly respected Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT).

He also holds a Higher National Diploma in Business and Finance, Certificate in Offshore Finance Administration, STEP Advanced Certificate in UK Taxation for International Clients and the Advanced Certificate in Fund Administration.

 

His native language is English but he also has a professional working knowledge of Spanish.
